In his program From Haydn till Today in 2002 René Eckhardt performed three new compositions for piano, dedicated to Eckhardt: Hoeken en Dalen; KLAvertje VIER by Toek Numan, Suite by Roel van Oosten and Auxochromes for piano and CD by Roderik de Man.

He combined those contemporary compositions with classical piano works by Haydn, Schumann, Stravinsky and Ravel.

From the press:
"
Superior performance."
"Intriguing modern piano works."
"An intimate, intensely poetic
  Papillons
of Schumannn."

Eckhardt in an interview

in one of the major Dutch daily newspapers, NRC Handelsblad

(by Mischa Spel)

'I asked three Dutch composers of different generations to write new piano works. They were completely free to compose whatever they wanted. All works are remarkable well written for the instrument and are very different in style. The work by Toek Numan (1970), the youngest composer of the three, has a strong narrative element and is very intense and expressive.

The Suite by Roel van Oosten (1958) has a classical form. It consists of two joyful and virtuoso movements with a slow poetic movement in between. His music has incorporated the lightness of French music in a strict personal idiom. New sonorities and an intriguing dialogue between electronic sounds and the piano are characteristic aspects of the work Auxochromes by Roderik de Man (1941). Everyone should experience this spectacular interaction live in the concert hall!'
